Lane Positioning for Cyclists
Guest Presenter – John Donoughe, HBC Member
The interaction of vehicular cyclist and other vehicle operators is greatly determined by where the cyclists operate their vehicles to improve those interactions. "The Right Track Method of Basic Lane Positioning" article will be distributed and will present the concept of positioning in narrow lanes. To further the knowledge base, other definitions and concepts will be discussed that will allow the cyclist to adapt to unusual situations with confidence.
**Before the official start of the meeting, John will have available an interactive, 'what-if', intersection practice tool that can be used by the participants.” At the end of the 20-minute seminar, you should have additional tools that will enhance your vehicular cycling experiences.

Closing of the Dauphin Narrows
Member Presenters - Chris Shelly and Joe Lauver
For years, the Dauphin Narrows on Route 322 has been a squeeze point for cyclists traveling on Bike Route J through Harrisburg. While ideas for improvement of this area are being considered, PennDOT is in the process of re-routing Bike Route J to Routes 11/15 and closing the Dauphin Narrows section of Route 322 to cyclists. Chris Shelly, the HBC Advocacy Liaison, will present us with updates and explain why this is such an important issue for cyclists, especially those living or commuting on the east side of the Susquehanna River.
