Saturday Morning D+ Ride. 18.7miles @ 10.7 mph
Richard Radwanski (L), Scott Silverstine, Charlotte Folmer, Diana Bermingham, Diane Riley, Diane Kripas, Dave Serff (S).
Very nice bike riding weather greeted the D Plus and C group that both met at the Lower Road Lot of Memorial Lake. The D Plus group took a route southeast of the park through the Ono and Waterworks areas before turning north and returning to Memorial Lake along Biddle Rd. Along the ride, we traveled through the annual Ono community yard sale. It seems like almost every house is this small community participates, requiring extra caution when negotiating traffic and people. The smell of fresh chicken grilling at the Ono Fire Dept. was incredible. During the first part of our ride , one rider twice experienced a chain drop off the front ring. On a subsequent break, we did a quick shifter adjustment which hopefully took care of the problem. One of our more experienced riders also had a flat rear tire. During the quick repair, we had a lesson on the causes and method of repairing flat tires. Thanks to the Mcgillstown Rd. farm family for allowing us use of their shaded front yard for the repair. Near the end of our ride, we met with HBC member Bill Engle, who was taking a solo ride in the Memorial Lake area. He joined us for some good post ride conversation. Bill has ridden with many us over the years he has led HBC rides. Refer to the below link for ride details.
