Upper Allen Friendship Park C Ride. 16.7miles @ 12.4 mph

Marilyn Chastek (L), John and Judy Gehrlein, Terry Turney, Jeff Goss, Paul Dagan, Sarai Ramanathan

Another beautiful night for riding...I'm loving this fall weather!  John, Judy, Terry and Jeff joined me for the 5:00 p.m. 10 mile pre-ride and then we circled around and picked up Sarji and Paul for the 6:00 p.m. ride. Jeff dropped off to ride with Mary McClain.

We headed out toward Ashcombes eventually finding our way to Park Dr.  We checked out the new bridge on Locust Point Extension and a bit farther up we saw a man standing curiously in a field who told us to bear left and then make a right after crossing the bridge.  Huh? We thought there had been an accident on Heisey Rd. or something, but after seeing more riders than usual, we figured out that there was some sort of biking event going on and he must have thought we were part of it. We continued onto Heisey, Baish, Leidigh and Creek Rd where we noticed the air was getting a bit chilly. We came back Sheaffer Rd. so we could get a closer look at the nice new bridge and then headed up Speedway to Brindle, Eppley and Fisher.

We turned our lights on early since there was a fair number of clouds in the sky and shade on the roads. I had to keep lifting up my sunglasses to reassure myself that it wasn't as dark out as it appeared to be and that we had adequate time to get back to the parking lot before dark. We kept up a steady pace and arrive back at Friendship Park just after the sun set.
