West Shore Weekend Email Ride Ride. 37miles @ 12.4 mph
Cynthia Gorski (L), Mark Dolheimer
So it’s cold outside, and the forecast called for snow showers BUT there was no wind so off I went to meet one other rider. I ditched the hilly Uriah ride because it went southeast which was where the snow was more probable and I didn’t want slippery descents. Instead Mark and I headed for Carlisle which had a better forecast. We experienced on and off flurries starting around 11:20AM but the roads were fine. We stopped at the Craighead Bridge since Mark had not seen the new bridge yet and then we made our way to Burnthouse Rd. and Barnstable Rd. We stopped at the Sheetz for a quick break and then headed back through the Boiling Springs area. The further east we traveled the heavier the flurries got which began to make the road slightly wet. On Lisburn Rd. a maintenance truck passed us as it was putting down cinders. Time to put the Gatorskin tires on my bike – I hate those cinders! As we neared the end of the ride the flurries were dying down and we extended the route a little for a few extra miles. It was a nice WSW ride and I was glad to have Mark along to share it with.
