Saturday Morning Social Ride. 25.1miles @ 12 mph
Larry Riley (L), Hale Baker, Ken Frohnert, Howard Ross, Sonja Williams, Mike Loomis (S).
Six riders met at an extremely quiet Memorial Lake on a beautiful February day. The sun was out for most of the ride, the sky was blue, and we had only occasional light winds. Starting and ending temperatures were 32 and 39 degrees, respectively.
One rider wasn’t feeling well and broke off at the 8 mile mark and another rider graciously accompanied him back to the start. The remaining four riders completed a very pleasant, but uneventful ride to the Ono area and back. The roads were clear and dry with the recent rain washing away the white salt residue that has been present the past several rides.
We enjoyed some nice scenic views where we could see for miles. Last year when we did this ride our views were blocked by the very high corn stalks along the road, but not so in winter.
There were no wildlife sightings unless you count suicidal squirrels crossing the road in front of us. We did see a lot of farm animals including alpacas, horses, sheep, and goats.
Thanks to Mike for excellent sweep support.
