Other Special Rides Ride. 23miles @ 11 mph

Patty Baughman (L), Bill & Patty Baughman, Jane Putchard, Carol Greenery, Peggy Bree, Joan Short, Phyllis Zitzer (S).

We picked up a route for this ride by the fireplace & drove to Canandaigua with plans to tour the Sonnenburg Gardens & Mansion. Florida & West Virginia bikers joined us.  We parked at Wegmans (their flagship store) & biked down to the pier where we  saw numerous artists painting pictures of the charming boat houses.  Also saw  the smallest State Park in NY--Squaw Island off end off the pier.  We made our way downtown & started the 18 mile  cue sheet.  Who know that left on Bristol St. was going to go up & up & up for 3 miles.  We weren't expecting it but we made it.  The route took us by the Notre Dame Retreat & is was another small hill to get there but it was well worth it.  The view of the lake was spectacular!  Then our reward was the greatest downhill ever to Lake Dr.  & back into town where we lunched @ the Beehive restaurant al fresco.   It was only a few blocks to the gardens & mansion where we spent 1 1/2 hr. strolling around ($12 senior admission).   Huge grounds & huge house!  Very enjoyable.  A few of us enjoyed a beer @ the WeBe  Brewery  in Geneva afterwards.
