Silver Spokes Email Ride Ride. 32miles @ 12 mph

Marilyn Chastek (L), Dave Powell, Ethel Nelson, Tom Schwartzer, Patty Baughman, John Landis, Colleen Prensky, Jeff Imbrognlio, Jeff McPartland, Bill Baughman (S).

We got out early to beat the heat and it was a lovely morning to ride.  Unfortunately, Colleen had to drop off early due to gearing problems. The loop took us down along shady McCormick Road and along the Yellow Breeches before heading over to Messiah College.  At the college, we ran into some construction that forced us to find another way out, and Dave Powell stepped in to lead us through a quiet neighborhood and up a hill.  At that point, riders had to decide to ride up another hill to Lisburn Road or to use "Pickerings Passage", a short walking path around a guard rail that is a hill-avoiding shortcut. All but John and Jeff opted for the shortcut, and as a car drove by, we heard the driver yell "Cheaters!".  Guilty as charged.

We then worked our way over near Ashcombes and Williams Grove and zig-zagged back to Pleasant View Park. The clouds moved in to keep things cool and it stayed comfortable as long as we were moving. We were done riding shortly after 11:00 a.m.

Jeff McPartland had a big smile on his face at the end of the ride since this was the first HBC ride he's done with his new Trek e-bike that he just got yesterday from Holmes.  Dave Powell also rode a bike with e-assist and kept telling me what an easy ride this was as he passed me on the hills. I'll get my revenge!
