Other Special Rides Ride. 50miles @ 12 mph

John Donoughe (L), Patty/Bill Baughman

Mother Nature put a damper, literally, on our ride today.  Our three-pack started out at John's home about 8:40.  The Market Street Bridge  was all jammed up, so we detoured via City Island to get over the river.  We were doing OK until shortly after our bio-break at McDonald's in Highspire.  It was an 'unstaple' environment for Bill.  Somehow, he ended up with a 1/4" staple in his tire.  We took shelter at a car rental place and fixed the flat.  Flat's happen on a tour.  After the customary bio-break at Donegal Springs Church, we welcomed the sight of the Country Table Restaurant in Mt. Joy and the warm food.  Our next adventure was the road-closed situation on Auction Road.  An earth-moving pan was blocking the road for most vehicles, but not for bicycles.  We could just squeeze through using a gap in the equipment.  We enjoyed the two covered bridges , but knew they could be slippery because of rain.  The last challenge was the Snake Hill Rd. hill.  Sometime in the afternoon, the rain finally gave up and we arrived at the La Quinta in Ronks with no other mishaps.  Caveats for Amish buggy ruts were well followed.
