Other Special Rides Ride. 70miles @ 11.5 mph

John Donoughe (L), Patty/Bill Baughman

John's Pack 2018 FT Day 3.  This was the longest day of touring this year.  We all queued up at the ferry landing for part of our point of interest today.  We crossed the C&D Canal via a local ferry instead of using one of the bridges over the canal.  After four shuttle runs we headed to the C&D Canal Museum.  A lot of riders had not been there before, but some old timers revisited the facility.  Our pack decided that the Chick Fillet in Middleton DE was a good place for lunch.  After that we headed east to pick up Rt 9 for the historical route toward Dover DE.  The tide was against us today.  We got to a section of road that was covered by 6" of water.  We just rode the center of the road with no problem other than getting our shoes completely soaked after having dried them from Tuesday's rain.  This has happened before.  Sambo's in Leipsic provided our last biobreak before arriving at the Home2Suites in Dover.  Again it was an accident and mechanical free day for our pack, but other riders on the tour did have problems.
