East Shore Flex Ride. 36miles @ 13.1 mph
Howard Ross (L), Howard Davison, Scott Silverstine
On this beautiful fall day, with temperatures in the upper 50's and warming sunshine, three of us departed for Hershey for the now regular, lunch ride. We rode the normal route through Linglestown, out to Grantville and Sand Beach into Hershey. Boathouse Road was closed due to trailer parking for the antique car show at the Giant Center, but the Penn State grad volunteering allowed the WE ARE group to pass. It was nice; no cars...until we got close to Route 39, where the crowds of both people and vehicles thickened. We maneuvered through the congestion and rode by the amusement park to Zoo America and onto Chocolate Avenue. At Scott's suggestion, we had lunch at Primanti Brothers, sharing two sandwiches between the three of us (they really do make BIG sandwiches!). We were joined by Dick and Kay Norford, who were out enjoying Hershey and saw the parked bikes. From Primanti Brothers, we rode over to Friendly's for root beer floats and ice cream coffee (OK, so Scott drinks weird things....). We rode back via Hershey Road, Green Hill, Sterling, Blue Ridge and Linglestown. Another great Friday lunch ride for the East Shore Flex. Come on out with us next week; it really is a great ride!
