Unfortunately, as I look out the window it's raining cats and dogs. Also, portions of the NW Lancaster River Trail have been under water this week with a river stage of about 9 ft at Harrisburg and a 13 ft crest predicted for Saturday. This means we are moving our ride this Saturday from the NW Lancaster River Trail to the Conewago Trail. We'll be sure to reschedule the NW Lancaster River Trail for better conditions so we can fully appreciate the ride.
We'll meet at the western-most trailhead of the Conewago Trail but we'll park in the adjacent abandoned Getty Mart parking lot where we have parked the last few years. For those who haven't previously joined us on this ride, just enter "Conewago Trail North Market Street" in your Google Maps and you'll easily find it. It's generally located just south of Saturday's Market along Route 230.
We'll ride about 26 miles with about the first half on hard roads and the last half on hard packed trail. The trail is suitable for both road and hybrid bikes. A mountain bike would likely be too disadvantageous for the first half of the ride. The trail ride portion is all slightly downhill. We'll be averaging 11-13 mph with no one left behind....kinda sounds like Seal Team 6. This ride is also relatively flat with one short steep climb near the beginning.
I'll send an email by 7:30 AM on Saturday if we need to cancel because of unsuitable weather.
The D+ ride will not be starting at the same location.
