Name: Lake Strause
Stats: 28 miles (1,320 ft.)
Speed: 11-13 mph
Start Location: Middle Road at Memorial Lake
At 9:00 AM we’ll be starting at Middle Road where there are open and heated restroom facilities. We’ll take a nice ride heading east through the rolling farmlands of Lebanon County to Lake Strouse where we’ll take a scheduled break. Then, we’ll head back to Memorial Lake taking mostly different roads. We’ll have one climb of about 200 ft. I’ve always thought the climb seemed easier heading east instead of west. Well, after checking the profile, that’s true because the climb is spread out over a longer distance heading east. So, since this is very early in the riding season, we’ll tackle it heading east.
In addition to our break at Lake Strause, we’ll take a few unscheduled breaks along the way. No one will be left behind.
The current weather forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with a high of 41 degrees. Remember, this time of the year the sun and wind make the biggest difference. Right now, the sun is as high as it is in October making it feel warmer. I don’t have a feel for the wind yet on Saturday.
For directions, you can enter “Middle Road and Boundary Road” in Google Maps and it'll get you there.
At the time of this announcement, it appears that the D+ group will be starting at the same location and time. You can verify that once Rick makes his announcement.
We were rained out 2 Saturdays ago and winded out last Saturday. Looking forward to seeing everyone again!
I'll cancel by 8:00 AM Saturday via email in the event of poor riding weather.
