Christmas Lights Walk

Friday, Dec. 23 6:30 p.m.

Leader: Marilyn Chastek 717-798-4537

Meet at Upper Allen Friendship Park , 1901 Fisher Road, at 6:30 p.m. for a stroll around one of the best decorated neighborhoods in the area. We will walk for about an hour at a pace fast enough to keep us warm and then head to Eckel’s Ice Cream Fountain at 36 E. Main St. in Mechanicsburg for some warm beverages, soups, ice cream or something more substantial. Eckle’s is a very cool little retro café…you’ll feel like you are back in the 50’s! This establishment has a lot of interesting history.  Read more at  http://eckelsicecream.com/pages/menu.html

Be sure to bring a flashlight since the parking lot is very dark.  In case of questionable weather, give Marilyn a call to see if there is a change in plans. We might just meet at Eckel’s instead.

This year's HBC picnic will be held at Fort Hunter Park on Front Street in Harrisburg on Sunday, July 16. HBC has rented the west pavilion on the riverside. Rides will be offered in the morning for all levels of rides from D to B, but there's plenty to do at the park even if you don't ride a bike. There's a great new playground, a downloadable self-guided walking tour map, tours of the Ft. Hunter Mansion, horseshoe pits and the opportunity to do some boating or tubing on the Susquehanna River. Bring the whole family!  https://forthunter.org

Lunch will be at 12:00 noon and HBC will provide the grilled chicken, hot dogs, water and Gatorade. Everyone who attends is asked to bring an appetizer, side dish or dessert to share. Bringing a folding chair is a good idea, too. You can also bring lawn games or other activities. Relax and have a good time with friends. The pavilion is ours for the whole day.

Sunday, Dec. 17, 6:00 p.m.

Cornerstone Coffeehouse, 2133 Market Street, Camp Hill

Additional parking is available next door behind Holmes Cycling and Fitness, as they are closed on Sunday.

Join us for a bit of holiday cheer as we meander around Camp Hill to view all the lovely light displays.  We'll walk for about an hour (2-3 miles) and then return to the Cornerstone for some delicious warm beverages, good conversation and perhaps some live music. Shortcuts back to the Cornerstone are available for anyone who wants to walk a shorter distance.  Who knows...maybe we'll be in the mood to sing a carol or two!

Bring a flashlight to help light the way.
