11-13 mphTerrain: Ride Description:
Saturday or Sunday "ad hoc" social rides (not EVERY week) in which we carpool/caravan to a trail/route outside the immediate metropolitan Harrisburg area or have weekend camping/biking adventures. Travel to venues will range from 45 minutes to 3 hours away. These are C/D+ rides which will have a 9-13 mph average and range from 20-45 miles.
REMINDER – PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU PLAN ON RIDING TOMORROW AND IF YOU ARE MEETING ME AT JC Penny OR at Brillhart Station BY 7 PM TONIGHT (Friday, April 14th)!
Saturday looks like a great day to ride the York Heritage Rail Trail from Brillhart Station to New Freedom (high of 71 degrees, mostly cloudy)!
Ride starts at 11:00 from Brillhart Station Parking Lot (approximately 30 miles round trip with break halfway for lunch and the mandatory pic at the bicycle sculptures!). This is a C/D ride - we will wait for you, if needed! This trail is not paved - crushed limestone. Not comfy, but possible on skinny road bike tires. Plan on eating lunch in New Freedom (restaurant TBD when we arrive).
If you want to carpool/caravan, I’ll meet you at 10:00 AM at the parking lot of JC Penney at Capital City Mall (park away from the stores).
Directions to Brillhart Station: I-83 exit #14. (Leader Heights Rd) West to N. George St.. Straight on Indian Rock Dam Rd. Left on Croll School Rd. to right on Days Mill Rd. Left on Brillhart Station Rd. Parking lot immediately on right. If that is full, there is another lot, don’t turn on Brillhart Station and that lot is on the left, next to the first lot. We’ll meet at the trailhead, which starts from the main lot.Start Location: Varies - see descriptionRide Leader: (click to email)
