Rolling Terrain and Challenging HillsRide Description:
The ride will include the rolling terrain and challenging hills of eastern Dauphin and western Lebanon counties. There will be infrequent stops and any that are necessary. Riders should be capable of sustained effort for two to three hours or more.
The ride will be for 45 miles beginning at 8 a.m. We will meet in East Hanover Park, in Shellsville (near Grantville). The forecast is for cooler weather on Saturday. We will try the last route again, where the route had to be changed to higher ground due to numerous bridges being closed near the Swatara Creek due to flooding. After a rest stop at a General Store in Jonestown, the ride will run through McGillstown and Steelstown in Lebanon County and continue along the Swatara north of Hershey before the return to the Park. At the start the ride will head through the Indiantown Gap and go over Moonshine. It is less than a half mile climb, with a short steep part near the bottom. From there we will go through through Monroe Valley, head into Jonestown and then go Southwest to return to the park from the south. Pace 14+.
