Saturday Morning C

Sat. 9 Sep, 2017 8:30 am
Ride Description:

Meet this week at Memorial Lake, Lower Road Entrance, Grantville, PA, and plan to ride about 29 miles thru the farmlands of rural Lebanon County.  This is one of Rick Radwanski's routes that we haven't ridden since  mid January of this year. There are no killer hills, but as with most of Lebanon County, there are several small to medium ones. Pace will be about 12 mph. This is a country ride, but we will also pass thru the small towns of Ono, Jonestown, and Fredericksburg.

There are restroom facilities available at the Lower Road parking area and we will take a break at the library in Fredericksburg where there are also restrooms available.

In the event of rain, I will send a cancellation email message to our ride distribution list no later than 7:00 am Saturday morning. If the weather is questionable, check your emails, call, or text me before you leave home.

I think you will like this ride and hope you can make it!

Progressive Dinner by Bike with a side of Glow to Go!

Sat. 9 Sep, 2017 3:00 pm

A la Car-less:   A Progressive Dinner by Bicycle (with a side of Glow to Go!)

6uA2Rrmpjd3SdmqSLW2MO9klvGM-Kk-6S21JLGoH

Come join Amy Addams and friends on Saturday evening, September 9, in Elizabethtown for a progressive dinner by bicycle.    We will take a tour of Elizabethtown and check out the local scenery in  our little Lancaster County town.  This is a fundraiser for the Johns Hopkins Pancreatic Cancer Research Center to help find better treatments and a cure for pancreatic cancer, one of the cancers with the poorest survival rates today.    (Amy's brother-in-law was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer this spring and Amy is raising money to help find a cure.)  The ride will be that of a Sunday social pace (D pace, 8 - 10 miles an hour) and will stop at several places in Elizabethtown for the different courses.    Total distance will be between 10 and 12 miles.  The menu will be an Italian theme and will include appetizer, soup, salad, aperitif, main course and dessert.   (Word on the street is that the dessert may not be Italian; rumor has it that Amy is making chocolate chip cookies and other goodies for the dessert table!)

All riders are expected to wear a helmet, bring a tail light, have a bicycle in good working condition, be able to keep up with the pace, be comfortable riding in a group, and practice safe bicycle riding skills.    While children are welcome, this is not a ride for little ones on training wheels and those who cannot keep up with the pace and be comfortable riding in a large group.   Consent forms/waivers will be completed at check-in on Saturday, September 9.   Please arrive early to allow time to complete the paperwork and get checked in.

A limited number of glow items to decorate your bike will be available for purchase at registration.

In the event of rain, the dinner will be hosted at the church.

RSVP:  By Wednesday, September 6, to Amy Addams via This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with the number of people attending, your name, and your telephone number.    Or you may choose to text Amy at (717) 371-6105 with the same information.    RSVP by the date is requested for food planning purposes.

Starting/Ending Location:  Christ Church United Church of Christ, 247 S. Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022

Check-in and registration:   Begins at 3:00 pm

Ride start time:  Promptly at 4:00 pm

Cost:   By RSVP date:  $25 per person (14 and over); children under 14:  $10.

(Late registration or day of:   $30 per person for adults; children 14 and under $10.)

Payment will be collected at registration.
