East Shore Flex

Fri. 9 Feb, 2018 1:00 pm
Ride Description:

Fly Eagles fly...On the road to victory

Let's celebrate the Super Bowl Champion Eagles with a Friday East Shore Flex ride!

Since many roads will still have snow on their shoulders we will stick to low traffic areas.  Departure will be at 1:00 p.m. from the parking lot behind the East Hanover Township Municipal Building located at 8848 Jonestown Rd, Grantville PA 17028.

We will head east on back roads, circle the Indiantown Gap area and stop at Memorial Lake for a restroom and snack break.  Return path will be on Route 443 and Manada Bottom Rd.  Total distance is estimated at 25 miles with elevation climb of approximately 1,050 ft.  The steepest climbs on this route are a modest 4% grade.  Our pace will be around 12 mph and no rider will be left behind.

Temps are forecast to be in the low 30s with minimal wind, but the cloud cover will make it feel slightly cooler.  Dress appropriately and I hope you can join us!

Saturday Morning Social

Sat. 10 Feb, 2018 9:00 am
Ride Description:

The temperature for this Saturday looks to be one of warmest Saturdays this winter.  The melting snow from the shoulders will probably cause some wet areas, but if we stay on the main roads, we should me okay.  So, let's meet at Fort Hunter on the east side (Barn Side) of Front Street and we will ride what the road conditions allow.  Plan to ride 25 to 30 miles at approximately 12 mph.  We may repeat a version the ride that we did three weeks ago by going up Linglestown Road to Koon's Park, over to Piketown, up Piketown Hill, down Appleby or Sleepy Hollow, and back to Fort Hunter via Route 443.  The only significant hill is Piketown Hill, but everyone breezed (or maybe weezed) up it the last time. It really isn't that bad and we will regroup at the top for a break before continuing.

If weather conditions require it, I will send a cancellation notice to our group's email distribution list no later than 8:00 am Saturday Morning.  If the weather is questionable, check your email messages before you leave home or call/text/email me.

Hope to see you there!
