Saturday Morning Social

Sat. 28 Apr, 2018 9:00 am
Ride Description:

Name:   Middletown River

Stats:     27 miles (1,060 ft.)

Speed:  11-13 mph

Start Location:  Hummelstown Park-N-Ride

At 9:00 AM we’ll be starting at the Hummelstown Park-N-Ride for a relatively easy ride to the Susquehanna River in Middletown. This is still an early Spring ride so we chose a ride with a bit less climb than normal.

We’ll head south to the river passing by Deodate, Par Line Golf Course and Sunset Golf Course, although you’ll need to look very hard to see them.  On the way, we’ll have our most significant climb from about mile 7 to 8.  We’ll ride along the river for about 2 miles before entering Royalton and Middletown.  From there, we’ll head north along the Swatara Creek back to Hummelstown.  We’ll be on the Jonathan Eshenour Trail for a few miles near the beginning and end of our ride.  This is a paved trail so road bikes are ok.

Restroom facilities are available at the 7-11 near the Park-N-Ride.  We’ll take a scheduled break along the river at mile 17 where facilities will also be available…Howard may need to share them with a certain squirrel again.

For directions, you can enter “Hummelstown Park and Ride” in Google Maps and it'll get you there.  It is located just north of the Hummelstown square at the intersection of North Hanover and West 2nd along the RR tracks.

The D+ group will be starting at a different location.

I'll cancel by 8:00 AM Saturday via email in the event of poor riding weather.
