Rolling Terrain and Challenging HillsRide Description:
The ride will include the rolling terrain and challenging hills of eastern Dauphin and western Lebanon counties. There will be infrequent stops and any that are necessary. Riders should be capable of sustained effort for two to three hours or more.
We will meet at the East Hanover Park in Shellsville and be ready to go at 8:00 a.m. We will ride through the Monroe Valley. known for its golf course, from there the ride will proceed to Jonestown before the return ride going West. There will be one tree-canopied hill leaving the Monroe Valley that is long, but not steep. This ride will run 40 to 43 miles. As it will be hot and humid, we will be leaving at 8 a.m. An early stop at Funck's will be made and then a mid-ride stop will occur on Camp Strauss Road just over the top of the hill in the shade. Good tires, plenty of liquid and a mid ride snack are recommended. Due to the heat, the ride average should be around 14 mph or so.
