Ride Description:

Name:   Piketown to Pine

Stats:     28 miles (1,460 ft.)

Speed:  11-13 mph

Start Location:  East Hanover Community Park

This is the “Piketown to Pine” ride otherwise known as the “Let’s Beat the Snow” ride.  Yes, it’ll be a cold morning with temps in the mid to upper 20’s but it’ll be almost calm, unlike the gusts up to 36 MPH that I hear outside the window right now.  Dress warm and we’ll be able to get this ride in long before the light snow starts on Saturday PM.

We’ll head northwest to visit quaint Ritzie Village tucked in Fishing Creek valley.  Then, we’ll head up to the top of the mountain at Piketown via Sleepy Hollow Road.  Yes, we have done this climb a few times and everyone is still an HBC member!  You can do it!!

From the top of PIketown, we’ll make the long descent all the way down to the Swatara Creek along Pine Road.  From there, we’ll head northwest back to the start.

I believe that a port-a-john is still available at East Hanover Community Park but I'm not making any promises.  And, we’ll be passing through mostly farmland with lots of opportunities.

I anticipate that we’ll finish pretty close to 12 mph but much slower making the climb to Piketown.  No one will be left behind.

For directions, you can enter “East Hanover Community Park” in Google Maps and it'll get you there.  It's located at the intersection of Jonestown Road and Manada Gap Road.

The D+ group will be starting at a different location.

I'll cancel by 7:30 AM Saturday via email in the event of poor riding weather.
