Saturday, March 15, 2025 a group of bikers from different clubs and organizations gathered on the Market Street Bridge to ride in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade . This was the fourth organized HBC Bike Club ride to the parade and participating.
Tim Groome, Bill Cologie, Brenda Bent and Dick Norford met me at the old JCC and we rode via Front St., across the Harvey Taylor to the Market Street Bridge were we met Marie Roof, Ashley Lenig, Donna Kraynak, her granddaughter Scarlet Williams, Murray and Emile Spelling, Donie Kartorie, and her grandson Sebastian (they both rode in a bike taxi ) on the bridge.
Lavern Reading brought the giveaway goodies to the bridge and we handed them out to our members. He also walked along and handed out the St. Patrick themed novelties . Ross Willard had Lucky charms cereal packages to give away. Many of the other groups had candy and novelties that thrilled the kids . THERE IS NEVER ENOUGH ! All types of bicycles were represented, road , hybrid, mountain, sidecar, tricycle, trailer, electric , beach cruiser and bike taxis .
EVERYONE WAS DRESSED TO IMPRESS ! We all commented that the weather probably kept some of the participants from being in the parade , but not the spectators. The streets were full of some very happy people. Could it have been from the beer crawl that was going on as well ? There were 650 runners in the 10th Lucky Charm 4 miler prior to the parade starting. Lots of downtown activities before and after the parade. We should be grateful and proud of Harrisburg Downtown Improvement District and all the parade sponsors for what they do for the community.
Never too early to mark your calendar for next year. SATURDAY , MARCH 14, 2026 !
