DISTANCE: Approx 26 miles
SPEED: 9-11 MPH
Time to check out the fall foliage. We will start by riding to Lake Strausse, on the way back we'll head over to Swatara State Park. Expect to see all types of road surfaces,(Pave, crushed cinders, gravel and wood chips) Route is mainly flat but do expect some hills. Bikes with wider tires are recommended. Hybrid, gravel or mountain bikes are best bets. Remember to bring water, snack and helmet. In the park we will head north on the Rail Trail and then go over the bridge to Bear Hole Trail, thus avoiding the worst of the gravel, allowing us to see Bordner's Cabin At the North end of the trail the return will be on the Rail Trail.
WHERE: Swatara State Park.- Lickdale Trailhead
Directions: RTE 81 N to ext 90 for Lickdale. Left turn on Fisher Rd to RTE 72. Rte 72 North (left)
Take the first right past the State Police Barracks. (Monroe Valley Rd) Look for the Lickdale Trailhead Sign , about a mile on the right.
Cancellation will be sent by 7:00AM if needed. This is a no drop ride , porta-potty is available at the start.
