Owen's Sunday Sociable, May 14, 2023. MOTHER’S DAY.

This Sunday, May 14, 2023, Owen's Sunday Sociable ride is scheduled to start on City Island. Meet at 7:05a.m. for announcements/introductions, and we’ll be rolling at 7:15a.m. We'll start between the two bridges to the island. Parking is free. I’ll be hosting this ride on behalf of Owen Moore.

MOTHER’S DAY PROTOCOL:
1. You’re invited to bring a photo of your Mother, or item from your Mother, for show and tell. All will have the opportunity to share something to honor their mother --if they desire. You’re also welcome to bring your Mother or Grandmother.
2. The idea is to enjoy a nice little ride, be sociable, and honor mothers.

SOCIABLE RIDE:
I gather that the SOCIABLE aspect of Owen’s ride is increasingly important. The Surgeon General has said in a recent report that there is an “epidemic of loneliness” that threatens the health of Americans. And that “being socially disconnected can have health impacts akin to smoking 15 cigarettes per day. So…. Come out and join Owen’s Sunday Sociable.


This will be a casual 60 to 75-minute ride at a relaxed “D” (social) pace of 8-10mph.

Wear your helmet; it’s required for all Harrisburg Bicycle Club rides. Bring water. Bring supplies and tools to change a flat tire if one occurs.
