Upper Allen Friendship Park : 5:30 PM. This is a B pace club ride that is designed to provide an option between the C+ ride at this location and the faster B+ ride. This ride is designed to be a “no drop” ride. Participants should be experienced in bike handling and capable of sustaining a B pace of 15 mph to 17 mph. The pace we achieve on any individual ride will be a function of collective group fitness, route parameters, amount of climbing, etc. For those reasons our average pace may at times be very close to 15 mph; other times it may be higher. Ride distances will depend on available daylight, route, and climbing. We will attempt to include a mid-ride check in and/or a very short rest stop as needed.

The 2023 Bike4Books bicycle tour is ON! Saturday Sept. 30th will be the date for the ride, which will start and end at the Ickesburg Lion’s Club Park this year. This is because several of the bridges in Perry County are under construction and not usable by car or bicycle. We did not expect this speed bump this year, and so we feel a bit behind, but the ride will go on as usual. We expect it to be another great day for biking in support of Newport Public Library. The official web page for the ride is https://pecoinfo.org/library-hours/newport-public-library/bike4books/ The registration page will be active until September 17 https://bike4books2022.itemorder.com/shop/home/ If you miss the Sept. 17 deadline, do not worry. We expect most of our registrations this year to be on the day of the ride. We welcome sponsorships, after all this is the library’s big fundraiser. Sponsorships need to be promised by September 17, 2023 to be on the t-shirt, but we happily accept sponsorships after that if you don’t mind not making the mention on the t-shirt. Lunch will be back to homemade items again, and, of course, there will be whoopie pies. Thank you for supporting our community library!
