The First Sunday of every month throughout the year, ride the Capital Area Greenbelt around Harrisburg. This is a great way to learn the route with a group of friendly riders. The loop is 18 miles of trail (some on road, some off road) mostly paved with many stops at crossroads. The ride leaves at 1:00 pm from the trailhead in Paxtang off Derry St (behind the City Line Diner, 3302 Derry St, Hbg 17111). If the spur routes are added to the loop (riders vote to add or not) the total mileage increases to 23-24 miles. The pace of the ride is average 10 mph (D+). We ride faster on flats and slower on hills. The terrain has a few hills. We ride the loop in a counter-clockwise direction. No rider left behind. Sign up for email notification due to the date change every month and to get cancellations due to weather or other possible reasons. Helmets are required. Be sure to pump your tires and know how to shift your gears before you come since there is a hill in the beginning of the ride.

Fall Tour Warm Up Ride #3. Leader: Bill Baughman Saturday, September 9 - 8:00 a.m. Warrington Township Bldg. 3346 Rosstown Road, Wellsville, PA Route approximately 65 miles. The third and final Fall Tour warm-up ride will be held on Saturday, September 9 at 8:00 A.M. The route is about 65 miles, with 2350 feet of climbing, so plan to get back between 3 and 4 o‘clock. The start point is the Warrington Township Municipal Building in Rossville, PA. From the West Shore, take 15 South to Dillsburg, then 74 South toward York. Go straight across the intersection at the Rossville traffic light and the Municipal Building will be on your left. From the East Shore, take I-83 South to Wyndamere Road, then 177 toward Lewisberry. Continue through Lewisberry, past Gifford Pinchot State Park. The Municipal Building will be on your right just past the Pinchot Park kayak launch and the Lutheran Church. ridewithgps.com/routes/43999380 A revised cue sheet will be provided at the ride start. We will not be going downtown for lunch because of heavy traffic. Instead, we will stop at the Hunterstown Diner at mile 40. If you prefer, please feel free to bring your lunch on your bike. We recommend riding with your six-pack (if you have one). We will probably ride in small groups. If you already belong to a six-pack, we recommend keeping the six-pack together for this ride. If you don‘t already belong to a six-pack, hook up with one to get acquainted. Make sure you have two water bottles, tools for on the road, and at least one spare tube for your bike. Water stops are scarce on this ride, particularly after lunch. Rain gear might also come in handy. Here‘s a great opportunity to see what you need to carry and how you plan to carry it on the bike. Remember, the luggage van is not a sag wagon on the Fall Tour. It will transport your ride-down luggage to the next destination each morning, but there will not be any on-the-road services. Plan to be self-sufficient.

Century Volunteer Ride and Lunch The Century Committee recognizes that volunteers may not have time to ride during the actual Three Creek Century event on Sept. 17. That’s why we are having the Century Volunteer Ride and Lunch on Sunday, Sept. 10 at the Penn Township Fire Volunteer Fire Company, 1750 Pine Road in Newville. Directions can be found at www.threecreekcentury.com Roads will NOT be marked but Ride With GPS directions can be downloaded and cue sheets will be provided by 8:00 a.m. You can ride the NEW 20 mile Walnut Bottom Loop, the 32 mile Opossum Lake Reverse, the 51 mile Big Spring Reverse, the 47 mile Big Spring with South Mountain Challenge or any combination of those routes. You can also enjoy the Cumberland Valley Rail Trail for up to 18 miles or the Kings Gap Climb of 7 miles. Just plan to be back at the start by 1:00 p.m. for the complementary lunch. We also would like to know if you found any problem areas along the routes, so they can be fixed prior to Century Day. The following group rides are being offered that day, starting from the firehouse: - Mike Loomis will lead a ride on the 32 mile Opossum Lake Reverse Loop starting at 9:30 a.m. Pace: 11-13. - Marilyn Chastek will lead a group ride that day starting at 10:00 a.m. on the NEW 20 mile Walnut Bottom Loop with an option to climb Kings Gap afterwards. Pace: 11-13 mph - Howard Ross will lead a ride on the 51 mile Big Spring Reverse beginning at 8:00 a.m. 11-13 mph pace. Ride With GPS downloads can be found at https://www.harrisburgbicycleclub.org/content.aspx?page_id=22&club_id=750678&module_id=338908&actr=4 or go to www.threecreekcentury.com and look under the Routes and Ride details tab. Thanks to Donna Finn and Christine Kramer for delivering the picnic spread! IMPORTANT *Please park in the gravel lot at the Firehouse because there is another event there that day.
