Silver Spokes October 13, 2021
DEPARTURE POINT:
Mayapple Golf Course and Fiddlers Bar & Grill
1 Mayapple Drive
Carlisle, PA 17015
Leader: David Raup ph. 503 7520
Depart time: 9:00 AM

Location is a few miles north of Boiling Springs. From Boiling Springs, head to the northernmost point of E. Springville Road where it intersects with Route 74. Shughart converges with Route 74 at the same place. The Mayapple Golf Club is on Route 74 about a mile west of the convergence of those three roads.

This will be approximately a 28-mile mostly flat ride. [Frankly between 25 miles and 29 miles; final edits to my route remain to be made. Dry-run came up at 24 miles, so I intend to add a little to that]. The hill climbing up Bonneybrook is a bit of a grunter…. I intend to take take it slow up that way. This is intended as a friendly ride, without dropping anyone or leaving them behind.

DESCRIPTION
I’m looking forward to sharing this ride to places I enjoy visiting around the Carlisle and Mechanicsburg areas. This ride is an adaptation of my signature ride; some riders may recognize it. It will be very similar to the last Silver Spokes ride that I hosted, with many of the same stops. This includes the out-n-back segment at the Cave Hill Nature Center.

Additional details can be found under "FORUMS" and "SILVER SPOKES OCTOBER 13, 2021." There is limited space to write here....

The weather report for Saturday October 16 predicts rain starting around 2pm. We'll try to get a ride in by making a few adjustments. Starting time will be 8:30 AM. Departure location will be Lenker Park, located at 7555 Manor Drive, Harrisburg 17112.

Our route will be a figure 8 that will take us east for about 9 miles before looping back towards our start point, which will allow us to bail out at about 18 miles if the rain is coming early. If not, we'll continue west into Linglestown before returning to Lenker Park. Total route distance is 26.4 miles and elevation climb is about 1,100 ft.

Average speed will be within the C range of 11mph to 13mph. No rider will be dropped as long as they can maintain an average speed within that range. If this is your first C ride or first Club ride, please contact Ride Leader Chris Wright at cjwright1919@gmail.com before Saturday to discuss the ride.
