City Island, Harrisburg PA 17101, main parking lot north of Market Street
Dave Young leads our leisurely early pedal around the area today. Meet on City Island main parking lot north of Market Street by 7:05 to start off at 7:15. We will ride for about an hour; D pace 8-10 mph. No rider will be left behind. Helmets are required; water bottle highly recommended as we pause for water breaks.
After the ride some folks go to Roxy’s, corner of Third and North St, for optional breakfast.
Hershey Briarcrest Square

Little Buffalo – Park office
Join us on Sunday for a West Shore Flex ride leaving at 1:00 PM from Little Buffalo State Park. We will gather in the parking lot across the road from the Park Office, which is located at 1579 State Park Rd, Newport PA 17074.
Our route will be somewhere between 24 and 27 miles, with 1000 to 1200 ft of elevation. This ride will be at a true C pace of 11 mph to 13 mph, and no rider will be dropped.
There is a rest room in the Park Office. Bring plenty of water, a snack and sunscreen.
If the weather does not cooperate I‘ll send out a cancellation by Noon.

This ride leads from Briarcrest and connects at 5:15 pm with the Blue Mountain Velo Bicycle Club at Founders Hall and rides a loop through Mt Gretna. This splits into a B, B+ and A group at Founders Hall. The B+ and A groups are at a fast training pace. ONLY HBC members leaving from Briarcrest and riding with the ride leader carry HBC insurance.

DISTANCE: Approx 20 miles
SPEED: 9-11 MPH
If you ate too much picnic food for the 4th, join us and burn off some calories. The terrain will be a little rolling but nothing the group has not experieced before. It is summer so fill up your water bottle, grab a helmet and enjoy the ride.
Cancellation will be sent by 7:30 AM if needed. This is a no drop ride and bathrooms are available at the start.

Lickdale Trailhead, Swatara Rail Trail
WHEN: Saturday July 5 at 9:00 AM
WHERE:Departure from the Lickdale Trailhead of the Swatara Rail Trail. Note: this is a road ride, not a trail ride.
HOW DO I GET THERE? Navigate to 65 Monroe Valley Rd, Jonestown PA, then go 0.1 miles West. You will see a sign on the South side of the road for the Lickdale Trailhead. Go back that road for about 0.4 mile to the parking lot.
ROUTE: Distance 27.4 miles. Elevation gain 1370 ft. We‘ll do a counter-clockwise loop that will skirt past Fort Indiantown Gap, go through Jonestown and past Blue Mountain View Golf Course, and stop at Lake Strauss.
CLIMBING? Rolling terrain with 2 climbs just over 4%, plus a 6.5% grade up over Lake Strauss Rd. We are going up the Southern side of the climb. The Southern approach is just about the same grade as the Northern approach but it‘s only 1/3 as long.
